I'm Ororo Monroe - a new first-year student starting at Queen Mary University of London
I'm going to be writing a blog during my time here at Queen Mary.
My aim is to give you a realistic view of the university from the eyes of a new first-year student.
I will try to explore the campus, check out the clubs and societies on offer and most importantly the food on campus and local life in East London.

Some facts about Queen Mary
Firstly, I thought I'd give you some facts about Queen Mary - the university I am lucky to be a part of.
- The history of Queen Mary University dates back to 1785, with the founding of England’s first medical school at the Royal London Hospital.
- It can also be traced back to the establishment of the People’s Palace in Mile End in 1887, which was designed to bring educational and cultural opportunities to the East End
- Queen Mary University is named after Mary of Teck - Grandmother of Queen Elizabeth II
- Queen Mary became a Russel Group University in 2012
