Resize Frame for Files
29 August 2012, 15:15
Hi,
I've been working with a colleague on uploading some interactive Hot Potatoes activities into QMPlus, and we have a query about how to approach this.
The Issue
We can upload our materials (typically a set of htm files plus dependent images) by adding a 'File' in 'Add a Resource', unzipping it and setting the relevant page to 'Main.' We then select the 'automatic' or 'embed' options, and the material is then displayed in an embedded frame.
However, the frame only ever goes to a maximum height of 400px, with no option to alter the height. Quite a few of our activities are 800px or 900px high, necessitating a long scroll.
We have a workaround, which is to then create a new page and to use <object> code that references the uploaded file. In the <object> code we then set the 'height' parameter to the desired height. However, this means we then have to 'hide' the previously uploaded file from students' view - to ensure they click the 'page' version rather than the 'file' version.
I've found one way to 'hide' the files is to put them into an additional 'week/topic' area, and then to set the visible number of topics to 1 less in the course admin area (see: http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=128834) for a decription of this.
My question
It would be easier if there was an option on the 'File' editing page to set the height of the frame - the option to set height and width of pop-ups is available, so is it possible to add a custom height and width setting for the embed option?
Thanks and best wishes,
Martin
