Variable start-finish dates for activities

Hi,
Is it possible to set different start-finish dates for forums assigned to different groups? I am running the same seminar with different groups and would like each group to have completed a quiz and discussion in a forum before the seminar. However, the first seminar group is with me one week before the other and, to keep the discussion fresh and relevant, I'd like the group to have access to their discussion up to the day before they attend. If I restrict it to the earliest group the later groups can't do this....
