WIRIS mathematical tools demo this week
03 November 2014, 12:01
WIRIS is a company which sells a number of tools for teaching mathematics which can be integrated into QMplus. This includes the ability to enter mathematical formulae anywhere the HTML editor is available, the ability to construct mathematical quizzes and has there is also a CAS component.
You can find out a bit more about the tools from the WIRIS website on:
A WIRIS representative will be visiting QMUL on Friday 7th November at 13.00 to show us what the tools are all about and to answer any specific questions we might have about them. I would stress that this meeting is really just an information gathering session, to find out what WIRIS offers and whether it may be of any potential interest to us. Several people have stated that QMplus doesn't "do maths very well" and tools like WIRIS present one potential solution. It would be very useful to find out from academic staff whether a tool like WIRIS would be worth looking at in more depth.
So, if there is anyone out there who would be willing to come along to the demonstration on Friday to ask some searching questions and to give us feedback on whether something like WIRIS looks interesting, please let me know on g.ritchie@qmul.ac.uk. The demonstration will be at 13.00 in the E-Learning Studio in the Bancroft Building on the Mile End Campus.
Even if you can't make it along to the demonstration, if you have any opinions, please feel free to respond to this post to let us know what you think.
