This message is to provide an update on the situation with the TurningPoint audience voting system (clickers) that is in use across the university.   If you don't know what TurningPoint is, then the rest of this message may not be of interest to you. If you have colleagues in your department who make use of these,  I'd be grateful if you can ensure that they are aware of situation.

The TurningPoint software on the computers at the front of classrooms was due to be updated over the summer.  Unfortunately, this has not happened as planned and we are now in the situation of having to advise that if staff wish to make use of TurningPoint in their teaching over the coming weeks, they do *not* use the computers in the teaching spaces.

We recommend that:

  • If staff have their own laptop, they make use of this
  • If they do not have access to a laptop, they contact the E-Learning Unit (on elearning@qmul.ac.uk) as soon as possible and we will lend them a laptop with the TurningPoint software on it to use.

I apologise for the inconvenience that this is likely to cause, particularly so close to the beginning of teaching. We are working with IT Services to rectify the situation as soon as we can.

Gill
