Dear All,

We are currently at phase 2 of our development of the QMplus physical coursework scanner. This will allow students to print off a coversheet with a unique barcode for paper coursework submission, allowing administrators to log submission much easier by scanning the code.

I would like to ask if you could let me know if bar code scanners are already used within your departments with any other systems. If so, could you let me know the details of the barcode (name and specifications). This information will be used by the developers of the system to decide how to update the current system to make it more compatible with current QMUL usage of barcode scanners.

I'm hoping to feedback to the developers before the end of next week, so any response before then will be most helpful. If you don't use a barcode scanner in your department, then please feel free to ignore this email. however, if you do, it will be a huge help if you could let me know which one it is.

One requirement for this that would fit with the use in practical labs would be a function for an adminstrator/academic to be able to print barcode labels for the entire class and then to distribute them to the class for then collection and scanning later

This would ideally be a labels rather than 'cover sheets'
