What is the best way to create a space in QMplus where both staff and students can share useful links with each other?

We discussed some options at the workshop - such as using a Forum or a Database or maybe a Glossary type activity...would any of these or something else be suitable? Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions?

Hi, creating a guest course (depending on access requirements) which incorporates all these activities/resources would be a good approach.

Thanks

Hi Alysa

Would that be staff and students across modules or with a module? If it was across modules then I agree with Yemi. Set up a course at programme level (e.g. UG) then create a glossary within it which you can link to from all courses...(e.g. by using a sticky bloch with 'links'.

Hi Brett and Yemi,

I was more thinking of within a Module - but I can try to set up a glossary across and programme and add as a sticky block - I didn't know staff could do that?

I was looking for something that staff could set up themselves.

Maybe I will put together samples of each activity as Yemi suggests.

Hi Alysa

Feel free to use the ELU101 site to set up examples - I have a glossary in there already so please add to it as it needs building on.

Also in terms of role setting, perhaps when we create the role permissions we can consider an editing student role - then some forward thinking lecturers can allow permissions to a course page or just a topic or activity to a group of students who might want to add/edit.

Thanks

Hi Alysa,

Reflecting on this, it might be worth considering using a Collaborative HTML Wiki as it would allow students/tutors within a module to add/tag a collection of links in one central place.

They can also use this area to add additional comments and build a list of useful web link resources for the duration of their studies/teaching in the particular module.

Studying my MA in Online and Distance Education at the OU, we used wikis in a similiar manner for adding project resources/tasks and sharing links to useful course related websites and online articles.

I hope this helps.

Yemi
