I have added an RSS feed block with 3 feeds, at least of one of which is updated daily, but I can't see the block on the module page. Is there likely to be something obvious I should do?

Cheers

Are you in "Test Area - Dominic Hurst"?  If so, I can see a  few news feed  blocks...one is way down at the bottom of the module page on the left and there's two at the bottom on the right.  I think you need to click on the edit icon and select the feeds that you want to display in the blocks.

The workflow for setting up RSS blocks in QMplus is quite clunky I'm afraid.

Is it possible to have an RSS feed within a Page or Book resource, when I've tried it it has thrown it out? Thanks Gary

Hi Gary,

How are you trying to include the RSS feed in the page?  Are you doing it with Javascript?

Hi Gill,

I haven't tried with Javascript, I take it that is the way to go.

Does that mean we can use Javascript within our pages and books?

When I've done things like use tags and inline css moodle has thrown it out, I kind of figured it would do the same to Javascript.

Hi Gary,

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply Javascript was the way to go I was just trying to find out what it is that you're trying to do and then I can investigate why it's not working.  How are you trying to put the RSS in?

Hi Gill,

I was actually wondering as I have seen a solution using Javascript.

I try to avoid Javascript where possible but if you're saying the occasional use is ok in Moodle that would help.

I was putting the rss in by copying the same feed I have in the gastro course into a page. However, it didn't work. Using the RSS block worked but it is not how we want to layout the RSS feeds.

Regards

Gary

Hi again Gary,

I'm afraid the policy on allowing people to enter Javascript into the HTML editor on QMplus hasn't been agreed yet (as far as I'm aware).   We are in the process of defining the various roles on the system and their associated capabilities so I expect something will be coming out soon.
