Old Spitalfields has a long history as same as the parish. But it seems like the economic position is not so good and there were just some scattered stalls.

However, according to a 2001 report, the market recieved a award from National Association of British Market Authorities which called "Best Private Market".

Some said that we met at the wrong time, because of the fact that it is work time from 3 to 4 o'clock on Wednesday. It should be better if we arrived on weekends.

Like you said, I agree that we came at the wrong time so the market was not crowded. However, when I came back on Friday afternoon around 4 or 5pm, the number of people came there was not remarkable.

A week ago we visited the market, which is established there since the thirteenth century.Spitalfields name is from the priory,St. Mary's Spittel and the hospital. This market is well-known thanks to the different cultures, such as Asian,Maroccan,Aigyptian etc,is considered as the best place in order to find products from all over the world.

Although there is a controversial issue about Spitalfields. The problem with is how affordable is the market. After our visit there,we understood that the market at the end is cheaper than at the beginning. Moreover something similar happens with the coffee shops and the restaurants. If the owners of restaurants and generally the owners of the market wishes to gather more people, then they should reduce prices and especially they have to advertise the market, its culture, the different nationalities and things that everyone than find there.Besides, it is important to maintaining the traditions and Spitalfields Market is a pictureque place.

Another privilege that they have to mention  is that the market is not far from Liverpool street, the centre and of course the Mile End station.
