Latest News Block
25 November 2013, 13:18
My students are not able to view the 'latest news' block that lists all my recent posts in relation to the module. I can see this clearly when I view the module page as myself but when I switch roles to student I can no longer see it. Is this set to default? It makes sense to me that the students see this too.
Any guidance would be hugely appreciated.
Many thanks, Rachel

Hi Rachel,
There shouldn't be any default settings that stop students viewing the 'latest news' block. With editing turned on, make sure the eye icon for the block is open. If it is closed then it is hidden and students won't be able to see it.

I checked that already Stella as I thought that could be it but its not the problem (unfortunately).
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Hi Rachel,
That is strange. I've looked at the 'latest news' block in my own course area when 'logged in as student' and it works fine.
Have you tried removing the block and re-adding it? I know that's not ideal, but I just wondered if that might trigger something?

It didnt seem to work.
Stella are you having any luck? Did you manage to view the SBC001 module page?
Thanks,
Rachel

Hi Rachel,
I did have a look at SBC100 and the block appeared fine (I assumed you'd deleted and re-added it). In SBC001, you're right it isn't working as expected. I think it needs looking at in more detail so please raise a helpdesk ticket by emailing its-helpdesk@qmul.ac.uk to get someone to take a look.
Thanks,
Stella
