What is the services strand?

I lead on the services strand in the TELT, but what does that mean?

Basically we have 3 strands of activity in the team:

Enhancement
Services
Training and Support

In Services, we are the business owners of various learning applications at QMUL. We ensure that these applications are fit for purpose and meet the ever changing demands of students and staff at the university.

This means we keep an eye on how the applications are running and how people are using them. We do this through collecting usage statistics from the systems themselves and also talking to staff and students to evaluate how the systems are and aren't meeting their needs.

As well as working closely with the other two strands in the team, my team also work closely with colleagues in other parts of IT Services, in particular our in-house QMplus developers and the Technical Applications team.
