Proto-Pasta Company

With a unique extrusion process and three new materials for 3D printing, the founding team of Proto-Pasta took their idea to Kickstarter in 2013. Many manufacturers thought their new material was innovative and placed an order for it. With Alex's help, they delivered on time and achieved extraordinary results. Protopasta was born.

The company successfully launched their brand by introducing three new 3D printing materials to the market, including PLA, the world's first carbon fiber. In this field, the ingredients for prototype pasta are produced at a ProtoPlant warehouse in Washington. ProtoPlant launched its carbon fiber PLA 3D-printed filament on a crowdfunding website in November 2014 to great success. Since 2015, the company has also added special mixers that enable them to produce higher performance and more beautiful filaments. Today, Prototype-Pasta continues to make high-quality, high-performance filaments for home 3D printers.

Now that the company has standardised its process, Proto-Pasta has developed a business that sells its ingredients far afield, with offices in Argentina, South Africa and Australia, making it easy for people around the world to buy.

Aside from creating unique filaments, the biggest difference between this company and others is the equipment they use to make them. Extruding from trusted lathes, Haas VF3 machined screws, sanding tape, port freight dial indicators, Protopasta extrudes on ProtoPlant design and dedicated extrusion systems. Their machines, from control software to diameter measurements, towing and spools, are customized to make materials no other company can make.
