Property profile
From the properties profile, the reduction potential is high, which means it is inert and applicable in the coating. The melting temperature is low enough to serve as solder and the indium have a sufficient viscosity to cohere other material such as silica. Besides, the high elongation and the high viscosity allow massive usage in aerospace and atomic energy industry.
When indium is applied in the semiconductor, it exists as both pure element and Indium Phosphide (InP). The boiling point and the resistivity for pure indium meet the requirements of the semiconductor. And the InP has a small energy gap and high electron mobility and electron conductivity, which makes it possible for semiconductor.
As for usage in electrodes, Indium exists as Indium tin oxide (ITO). The percent of transmission and the electrical conductivity satisfy the requirements of the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) industry.
