One of the main applications of liquid phenolic resin is as coating. For example, phenolic resin can be used in wood surface coating to enhance water resistance, prevent moisture and decay of wood, and enhance wear and weather resistance of wood, making it more durable. It can also act as the coating for steel components, which can improve the corrosion resistance of the components.

Liquid phenolic resin can also be used as a binder. It can be used in the field of wood processing, as a wood adhesive, used in the production of wood-based boards, such as medium density fiberboard, particleboard, plywood, etc.
