How we get materials

PLA and PBS material are all from Department of Applied Chemistry, School of Natural and Applied Science. Our team leader, Sun Zhiyuan, get it from Shi Xuetao, the assistant professor’s science group. Sun Zhiyuan has learned physical toughening modification from this science group.

Result

Later these samples got other two experiments. At first, The computer system tension testing machine was used to test pressure, which shows the strain increasing.

  Then using Differential Scanning Calorimeter to test sample's crystallization temperature and melting temperature. The peak at 46.5℃is the glass transition temperature. The peak at 81.9℃ is the crystallization temperature of PLA. The PBS melts at 109.2℃. The PLA melts at 169.6℃.

What we did to materials

  At first, twin-screw extruder was used to process materials. Mixed polymer pellet and reinforcing agent were added into the machine. Then melt blending was happened in the machine. After melting, finished products were produced. Second, press vulcanizer was used to make samples. After press vulcanizer’s hot press, samples of PLA+PBS and PLA were get.  Finally, these sample’s toughness were tested by the tensile machine, the sample’s toughness were evaluated by elongation at yield. According to the result, it can be concluded that PLA+PBS is more tough than PLA.捕获114514.PNG
