Handmade stage

Make the lid: Make a strip of clay and a thin base from the treated clay, then place the base on a turntable, surround the base with a strip of clay, remove the excess with a tool, then sand the surface smooth, turn the base upside down and put a handle on the lid.

Make the spout and handle: take the pre-prepared clay and roll it out by hand to create the desired spout and handle shape.

Make the body of the pot: make the clay of the required thickness into slices and strips of clay, then use a knife to cut out the slices of clay required for each part of the pot according to the design, bend the slices of clay into a circle according to the design, polish off the excess and then tap the body with a wooden racket to shape the pot. Then place the base piece for the pot, polishing off the excess with a grate. The inside of the pot is then polished smooth using a bamboo tool. Turn the pot upside down and place the upper base piece on the body. Then, attach the prepared spout and handle to the body. Finally, depending on the size of the lid, remove the upper part of the base and polish it smooth.

Firing stage

Dehydration stage: room temperature to 200°C, the dehydration stage of the purple sand blank. To effectively and completely remove water, the billet should be kept warm for 30 minutes at 105°C. The dehydration stage must be slowly warmed up, otherwise, the billet is very susceptible to cracking or frying.

Crystalline water removal stage: 200°C to 500°C is the stage at which crystalline water is removed, the temperature should be steadily increased so that crystalline water is decomposed from the kaolin.

Quartz crystalline transformation stage: 500°C to 600°C is the quartz crystalline transformation stage, this period ensures that the kiln temperature is uniform, as far as possible to reduce the temperature difference and control the reaction in about five minutes to carry out the end.

Oxidation decomposition stage: 600°C to 1050°C is the oxidation decomposition stage. At this stage, the carbonates are decomposed and the coloring oxides such as iron oxide and manganese oxide begin to show their original color.

Sintering stage: 1050℃～1200℃ is the sintering stage. When the kiln temperature reaches this temperature, it needs to be kept warm for 30 minutes. The purpose of keeping warm is to reduce the temperature difference between the upper and lower parts of the kiln, and when the upper and lower temperatures are the same, the heating can be stopped.

The acute cooling stage: 1200℃～700℃ is the acute cooling stage. At this stage, the products in the kiln are still in a molten plastic state and can be rapidly and rapidly cooled without cracking. There are two advantages of using rapid cooling, one is that it can shorten the firing cycle and improve the efficiency of the kiln; the other is that due to the rapid cooling, the surface gloss of the products is excellent and the watercolor of the teapot can be revealed.

Slow cooling stage: 700°C to 400°C is the slow cooling stage. Ensure that the kiln cools slowly and evenly, otherwise, the product will be easily cracked and scrapped.

Normal cooling stage: 400°C to room temperature is the normal cooling stage, where the Zisha pot naturally cools to room temperature.

Polishing stage

Polishing: After cooling, the pot is polished to make the surface smoother and to enhance the texture and ornamental value of the pot.
