Three Typical Alloys with Ni&Cr Additions
Samples
Acquirement
Three previous samples are acquired from China Institute of Atomic Energy and China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC).
Appearance
All of the samples are silver, metal-like solid with thickness of 2.0mm and surface that is smooth, but not mirror-like reflection. 316LN sample is in a shape of plane that is ready for Young’s modulus test, while Incoloy800 is the same shape but bended like part piece from a tube. Both of them are 7.5mm in total length and the wideness of test part in the middle is 3.0mm. The Inconel690 sample is a short cut of a tube with diameter of 15.0mm (outer diameter).
All of the samples are hard and not easily scraped. There are several parallel lines on the surface of all three samples due to the manufacturing processes. The edges of samples are straight and sharp because they were cut by high-energy laser. All of the samples have a clear sound when being hit slightly, and all of them do not have any smells. Sometime their surface will collect fingerprint as being touched, which can be erased easily.
Heat treatment process:
The temperature range of softening annealing or stabilization treatment is 920-980°C, and the suitable temperature is 940°C. Water quenching or rapid air cooling are recommended for workpieces with thickness greater than 1.5mm to obtain maximum creep resistance.
